May 4, 2020

We know there is a lot of concern among our guests about the Covid-19 virus and you are probably wondering how we are responding.  We have been following the CDC developments closely and gathering information on best practices in our industry through multiple sources.

That being said we are committed to educating and protecting our guests and staff.  In normal times, the hospitality industry uses cleaning supplies proven to fight viruses and bacteria you may or may not have known existed.  We have owned our resort through the trials of Mers, Sars, H1N1/swine flu, and other concerns to public health.  We will continue to disinfect & clean prior to each guest arrival with added careful consideration of addressing all areas.  Cabin bedding will continue to be laundered in bleach treated water.  We will continue to use & wash couch covers and cabin rugs.  Our staff wear gloves to protect themselves from chemical exposure.  Some staff also wear a mask for the same reason. When possible, we also open the cabin windows when cleaning for the same protection from chemical exposure.  Maintaining health comes from different directions - viral, bacterial, chemical, environmental - we try to address all as well as we are able.

Likely changes to our resort schedule:
  • The resort laundry room will likely be closed to the public for the 2020 season.  A close alternative is the laundromat in Pequot Lakes located behind the DQ (same building)
  • Our normal planned/structured activities (bingo, crafts, etc) will likely be canceled.  If the CDC recommendation is social distancing, we cannot in good conscience plan activities that bring different groups together.  All of our guests are welcome to organize & carry out activities with your families & trusted friends.
  • Our cabin check-in process may change to contactless for those of you who have visited us in the past & are familiar with cabin location/boat launch, etc.  An email will go out to our respective arriving families a week prior to your arrival with the current plan.
  • Our resort office hours may change to outside picnic-table-pick-up for bait & ice cream treats.  Each week we will assess our guests needs & plan accordingly.
Likely continued amenities:
  • Check out of our non-motorized water equipment (kayaks, paddleboards, etc) will continue to be available.  If you have your own life jacket, please use it.  MN Boating regulations require a life jacket for each person - you are welcome to use ours knowing others have also used it prior to you.
  • All play areas, beach, wooded trail, ping pong, etc are available and open.  Please use caution as we are not sanitizing these areas.  If you are able, bring hand-sanitizer for your own use as you see necessary.

Let us know how you are doing!

We invite questions & suggestions from our guests!  We are fortunate to know the majority of our guests this summer & believe we can get through this pandemic together.  Our resort has always had the "village mentality" of helping each other; we believe people will step up in these uncertain times.

At this time, we are out working on cabin projects & not inside the office to answer the telephone.  Please use email for communication if possible: toweringpines@gmail.com or many people have contacted us through Facebook messenger as well.

Suggestions from our 2020 guests (list updated as received):
  • Suggestion: One family has sent a message indicating they will bring their own blankets.  Resort comment: Please let us know before your arrival if you plan on this as we will take out all extra bedding you do not plan to use.  Any bedding inside the cabin at your arrival will belaunderedd before and after your stay with us.
  • Suggestion: Several families have indicated they wish to arrive a day later than planned or leave a day early.  Resort comment: If you decide to arrival a day later, we will leave the windows open overnight & not make up the beds until your arrival day.  If you are leaving a day early, we will schedule staff to clean early.
